Mary Chernesky (sitting), Director of
Hillsborough County Extension has retired after serving over
12 years in her position. Shown are Mary’s husband George
(right) and their son, Mark (left). Mary was known for her
outstanding organizational skills and leadership, having
served on the local, state, and national levels in various
professional organizations from committee chair to
president. She will be sorely missed.

Agriculture Charles Bronson (center) on winning the coveted
Commissioner of Agriculture’s Ag Environmental Award.
The Davis’ Tampa Wholesale Nursery in Dover, was cited
for its innovative use of recycled water from a nearby Tampa
Bay Fisheries plant, reducing the need to pump water from
the aquifer necessary to grow their plants by 40%.

the prestigious Commissioner’s Ag Environmental Award. The
Brown’s nursery, Riverview Flower Farm, was recognized for
its visionary adaptation of drip irrigation, fertigation,
and the use of state of the art technologies like capillary
mats to conserve water and eliminate runoff.
